Letter from Tony Artero Sablan put i hanom Guam

Hafa Adai, I am forwarding this to you for I know that you care about our island’s futureand in bettering what we will be handing down to our children. I am sure youwill help lead in the effort of protecting our fresh water resources fromfalling into the hands of big players whose only motive is profit. If you feel that it is not right that the U.S. Navy delivers our Guam water toits military population for free, and we have to pay the Navy for the watersurplus they make available to our civilian community, then you know thatdealing with a merciless profit motive transnational company will be much moredifficult and will be very costly for us. Many of our people will suffer even more over time. For our future generations(our children and grandchildren), get involved now. You do not have to be awater expert nor an expert on any other field, your involvement is urgentlyneeded. Our current Consolidated Commission on Utilities (CCU) has recentlygiven up the fight to recover our water rights from the U.S. Navy. We are nowobligated to pay the Navy $9 +/- million, per year. The CCU is also consideringbringing in big companies to take over our water system. Let us organize to put good people into water management, to properly manage ourwater and wastewater.

Let us not leave those in-power in when their only motiveis to get into political power plays behaving as if they are our Governor, orwhose other goals are to silver-line their pockets.
